Aircraft Charter - Frequently Asked Questions

Click/Tap the questions to reveal the answers.

  • How much does private travel cost?

Chartering a private jet can vary based on demand and positioning of the aircraft. On average a light jet has an hourly rate of $5,000, Mid-Size $6,000, Super Mid $7,500, heavy jet at $9,500, and turbo prop aircraft $4,000 per hour, plus taxes and fees.

  • How safe is private charter?

Private aviation is largely regarded as one of the safest ways to fly. Organizations such as Wyvern and Argus provide third party audits and safety screenings based on the FAA’s part 135 regulations.  Flight Solutions is proud to be an Argus registered broker.

  • When should I charter?

There is no one size fits all approach to when you should charter a private jet. Whether you are a busy businessman or woman looking to close a deal two states away and be home for dinner or you’re looking to celebrate a major life milestone with your family and friends chartering a private jet is second to none.

  • How do I choose an FBO?

Picking an FBO is often based on a few variables. Is there room in the hangar? Do they provide in-house maintenance? Are their fees and fuel prices competitive?  The services and fees provided by an FBO can vary, so it is smart to confirm any additional services prior to arriving at the airport.

  • How does chartering a private jet work?

Chartering a private jet is paying for a single one-off trip. Whether it be round trip or a one way, it is as simple as calling and letting us know your travel destination and origin, dates, number of passengers and luggage amount. We will source the right aircraft for your mission in the safest and most cost-effective way.

  • What airports can I go to?

Commercial airlines are limited to roughly 5,000 airports, while private jets can operate in and out of roughly 10,000. Doubling your ability to arrive closer to the end destination and increasing your flexibility.

  • What aircraft are used?

Another great benefit to private air travel is the wide variety of aircraft you can choose. Short flight a state over to close a business deal? A light or super light jet would be perfect. Taking the family on a trip to the beach? A Mid-Size or Super-Mid would get the job done. Celebrating a wedding and traveling with a large group coast to coast or abroad? A Heavy Jet will get you there in style. Looking to maximize cost efficiency and performance? Utilize a turboprop. There are multiple different options to choose from that will meet your exact mission.

  • Who are the pilots?

For each private flight we arrange there are strict onboarding processes detailing the history of the company, pilot experience, and if there have been any in have hand selected aircraft operators that have crewed pilots who have exceeded FAA Part 135 requirements to fly charter safely. Our team goes above and beyond checking that these pilots have sufficient time and experience flying the type of aircraft that you will be a passenger on.

  • Can I bring my pets?

Of course! Chartering a private jet allows you the freedom to bring your pet onboard the cabin with you- allowing them the comfort of your presence and giving you peace of mind knowing they are not confined to the cargo hold subject to weather conditions.

  • How far in advance do I need to book my private travel?

We can handle same day ASAP requests all the way to booking travel months in advance. A sweet spot for aircraft availability and positioning for flights is around the two weeks in advance mark.
